The founders believe that there needs to be a highly focused
strategic approach to deal with

increasing concerns on health and
disease, and to make improvements in health equity among people in
India irrespective of the socioeconomic status. India is still
concerned with a huge burden of communicable diseases, including
malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS. On top of these, there is a
steep increase in the prevalence of non-communicable diseases,
including coronary artery disease (CAD), diabetes, cancer and
neurological diseases. By 2025, these diseases will increase
overall health care burden stretching the resources thin. Despite
rapid GDP growth, India will be faced with dealing with a
significant health care burden.
The Institute believes that people in India deserves to live
safer, healthier and longer using the available tools and
technologies of health promotion, health protection, and health
diplomacy. People behind the Institute believe that there are
resources and opportunities to gather knowledge about health
promotion, disease prevention and treatment, and acquire tools and
technologies to manage their healthy life styles. There are
opportunities for India to put in the right strategies to: Prevent
and control infectious diseases; Prevent infant and child
morbidity and mortality; Prevent non-communicable diseases and
their consequences; Prevent injuries and their consequences; and
Promote safe, healthy, and accessible physical environments.
The Institute has established partnerships with several US-based
organizations to offer highly targeted programs. They include:
1. Established a School based Teen age Education Program (STEP)
with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA.
2. Established a long-distance learning partnership on Clinical
Research/Trials with the National Institutes of Health, Department
of Health and Human Services (HHS), US Government.
In addition, the Institute is also in consultation with another US
organization, which is active in developing models to offer
solutions for rural health care delivery. The Institute has a long
term goal of establishing software-driven friendly educational
tools in English and other local languages to provide health
information. This would include both preventive, treatment and
disease management tools. The Institute has established active
partnerships to offer these tools through the Institute. The
Institute is also working with other global organizations on a
number of relevant health projects, which will make a difference
in the lives of people in India.
The Institute’s founders believe that knowledge is important for
people to make choices and decisions with respect to their health.
